Omega Speedmaster Hesalite

Matt McClure #88

Matt McClure

United States

Matt McClure is 45 years old, married, has two kids, and works in fire alarm and sprinkler testing.

Matt has always liked watches, but he does not consider himself a serious collector.

“I have two other Omega watches, but they’re vintage. They’re not current by any means.”

His interest in Omega goes back to growing up watching Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.

“I started loving Omegas because I grew up when Pierce Brosnan was.”

For Matt, that meant the Seamaster.

“He had the Seamasters.”

But his interest in Omega is also tied to another passion: space.

Matt is especially interested in the Speedmaster’s connection to the moon, and his work has even taken him into aerospace facilities.

“One of the places that I do work at had the James Webb Telescope there.”

His first watch purchase was also an Omega.

“My first watch that I bought myself was like a 1970s Omega.”

There are still a few watches Matt would love to add to his collection.

“I need to have a Seamaster, so then it can fulfill the Bond starting.”

He is also a huge Formula One fan and would eventually love to own a Rolex Daytona connected to Formula One.

“If I get those three then I’d be happy.”

Matt had been entering Wolf Watch Club competitions for quite a while before his name was finally called.

Before finding WWC, he had entered a Florida wildlife charity Rolex raffle a couple of times.

“They say they only sell 10,000 entries.”

But the odds did not appeal to him.

“You buy one entry, and it’s one of 10,000.”

That led Matt to keep looking, and eventually he found Wolf Watch Club.

“I was like, oh well, those are way better odds.”

He liked that WWC competitions had smaller, clearly defined entry pools and lower entry prices.

“The entries are cheaper, so I was like, oh, I’d have a way better chance.”

By the time Matt won, he had entered around 21 WWC competitions.

And he almost missed the winning one.

“I forgot to buy the entry until the day of.”

When Matt checked the competition, only 12 entries were left.

“So I bought my usual three and then I won.”

What kept Matt entering after all those previous competitions was the transparency of the process.

“I love how they have, you know, you do the live drawing whenever it’s online and you get and sit through and you can see the name.”

He also liked being able to look back through previous results and compare winners with entry activity.

“Everything makes sense. Nothing gave like red flags or anything like that.”

Matt had become a regular viewer of the Sunday livestreams.

“Every week I watch the live competition and everything and I really enjoy that.”

This time, he was watching from beginning to end.

And he actually spotted his own name before it was announced.

“I had seen it even before he said my name.”

His reaction was immediate.

“I was definitely cheering, but I couldn’t do it too loud because I hadn’t told my wife that I was doing it yet.”

Even after finally winning, Matt plans to keep entering.

“I’m still gonna keep buying my three entries.”

He says he probably will not enter another competition for the same Omega Hesalite, but he would love to see more Seamasters and plans to keep entering Rolex competitions as well.

For Matt, one of the biggest reasons Wolf Watch Club works is how simple the process is.

“I honestly think this is the most direct and easiest way of doing it.”

He had looked at other watch club websites, but found their systems more complicated.

“I really love how yours is just definitely a finite, this is all the entries there are, this is the time there is.”

No extra mechanics. No confusing systems.

“It’s just very straight to the point and I really like that.”

After around 21 competitions, Matt’s usual three entries finally turned into the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch win he had been waiting for.
