Carroll Strong #84

Carroll Strong

United States

Carroll Strong is 39 years old and originally from Greensboro, North Carolina.

“I’m from Greensboro, North Carolina, born and raised”

Carroll has served in the U.S. Army for a little over 15 years and works as a medic. He is currently stationed with his family in southwest Germany.

“I’ve been in the U.S. Army for a little over 15 years now, and I’m a medic by trade in the Army.”

Outside of work, Carroll has a few passions.

“I’m a huge golfer.”

He has been playing golf most of his life and also collects vinyl records, particularly records from the early 2000s.

Watches have always been part of Carroll’s life too.

“I would say I’m one of those guys that feels naked if he’s not wearing a watch.”

His own collection has included Seikos and Garmins, but his appreciation for watches also comes from his family.

“My dad growing up has had a two tone Datejust from 1984, which I’ve always loved.”

His brother in law collects watches as well, with a particular interest in Omegas and microbrands. Carroll also has a twin brother, and watches are something they share in common.

“We’re always comparing the watches that we have and everything like that.”

Carroll first found Wolf Watch Club while watching watch content online.

“I think I was watching watch content on Instagram and came across an ad on Instagram or Facebook.”

He visited the website, learned more about how the competitions worked, and liked the idea of having a limited number of entries for high value watches.

“I thought it was super cool.”

What gave him confidence to keep entering was seeing previous winners and watching the live competitions.

“I saw the pictures of the previous winners with the watches they won.”

After entering his first few competitions, he started watching the livestreams as well.

“I watched the YouTube videos. I watched a lot of drawings. I saw people that were interacting with the drawings. I was like, no, it seems legit.”

Carroll also appreciated the Wolf Points system.

“The points are great too.”

For the competition that would eventually change his watch collection, Carroll bought just one entry and used some of his Wolf Points toward the purchase.

He was not watching live when his name was called. With the competition happening around midnightin Germany, Carroll found out the next morning through his email.

“It was unreal.”

Later that morning, after getting to work, he went back and watched the recording of the competition.

The timing made the win even more surprising.

Just before the competition, Carroll’s sister had been in New York City and picked up a 1990s Rolex Submariner for him.

“Right before the competition this past weekend my sister was in New York City on 47th Street and she found 1991 Rolex Submariner for me.”

Then, just days later, Carroll discovered he had won a Rolex GMT Master II Batgirl with his single entry.

“I told my wife, ‘You’ll never believe this.’”

Her reaction was understandable.

“She was skeptical.”

Carroll plans to keep the Batgirl.

“I am planning to keep it and wear it proudly.”

And he has no plans to stop following watches or entering competitions. One watch in particular remains high on his list.

“I would really like to, if there’s another competition for Omega Speedmaster Pro.”

For Carroll, the live experience remains one of the things that makes Wolf Watch Club enjoyable.

“The YouTube watch competitions are great because you can watch it real time and it builds anticipation. It’s exciting.”

One entry, some Wolf Points, and a morning email in Germany later, Carroll had added a Rolex GMT Master II Batgirl to his collection.
